Supporting Frontline Workers with SVB

Silicon Valley Bank is a leader in banking for startups and has been a valued Thriver client for over a year now. In light of the current situation, SVB was looking into ways that they could help the community, specifically by supporting frontline workers.

This desire to give back by SVB represented a great opportunity for some of our catering partners, not only because they too want to be supporting frontline workers, but also because this would bring a boost in business. It’s been a difficult time for many local businesses, as restaurants have had to close their doors and rely solely on takeout and delivery options. During the global pandemic, Thriver has been focusing our efforts to support the community while working closely with our partners to help increase their orders.

Thanks to the generosity of our partners at SVB and the hard work of our partners at Mezes, Mika, and Thai Room, we were able to organize meals to help feed the frontlines. In total, we provided 280 hot meals to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Floor 17b, Kipling Acres Long Term Care Home, North York General Hospital ICU Department, and Toronto Western Hospital Operating Room.

The nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers were grateful to be receiving these meals and to be given some reassurance that people are thinking about them and appreciating their hard work during these uniquely challenging times. Our local partners were also thrilled to receive orders to help their businesses while allowing them to give back to our community.

Though this week is International Nurses Week, supporting frontline workers will still be a priority next week, and in the weeks to come.
